whois Tool

This little utility will look up a domain you are interested in getting information on. It will search for org, net, com, edu, mil, gov, us, jp, au, uk, and an IP address from ARIN, APNIC, or RIPE. It can also provide info on a NETBLK from ARIN.

If it doesn't recognize the domain name extension, it will try to use rs.internic.net to find the result. Allow up to 10 seconds for the lookups to complete.

This program was originally a Bourne shell script that called an awk script. However, upon suggestion by Brennan Stehling (and new features I wanted to incorporate), we converted it to perl. Here is the perl source.
